Letter to Families: Feb. 14, 2019
On February 11, EIPS held a public information meeting for families of students designated to attend the new replacement school in Heritage Hills, as of the 2020-21 school year.
Thank you to everyone who attended to share their thoughts and pose questions about the Board of Trustee’s recent decision regarding elementary French immersion in Sherwood Park. Moving forward, we are committed to engaging families as decisions are made about grandfathering, boundary exemptions and plans for transition to the new school.
In March, the Division will survey all current École Campbelltown families to ask if given a choice, how many would choose to stay vs. how many would choose to relocate to the new school. In addition, the survey will gather feedback about grandfathering and potential boundary exemptions.
In April, EIPS will return to École Campbelltown to present the results of the survey, and to provide various options for consideration and feedback. Those unable to attend the meeting can also review the information online, consider the options and provide feedback by way of an online survey.
Based on the input received, EIPS administration will put forward a recommendation report for the Board of Trustees at their May meeting. At that time, the Board will vote and direct administration as to the preferred course of action. We wish to assure families that regardless of the school your child attends, they will receive an exemplary French immersion education and experience.
After a decision is made, the Division will put together a transition plan for those students who are enrolled at the new replacement school in Heritage Hills. The plan will ensure the move—which will be to an impressive new facility—is as smooth as possible, and that families coming from both schools have the opportunity to join together as a new school community.
Throughout the process, updates will be posted on our school website. If you require more information about the process, contact EIPS Communication Services through the Division online contact form.
