March 10-16

On Friday this past week, teachers had a professional development day.  The teachers were given the opportunity to pick professional development that would most benefit them and their students.  Many of our teachers attended a session on Readers Workshop with Isabelle Robert who comes from Quebec. Mme Robert did PD for our teachers in October around Writers Workshop so teachers were excited to learn more about Readers Workshop.  There were also many teachers who attended a French session at the Campus St. Jean that focused on Truth and Reconciliation. We also had some division 2 teachers who decided to work together at the school to learn more about implementing Writers Workshop in English.  Teachers are lifelong learners and they all appreciated the opportunity to do some incredible learning on Friday!

Working with you,
Mme Sauder & Mme Garneau

Did you know?

This coming week is our annual Young Speaker’s Competition.  Mme Aasen and Mme Kulhavy have been working with the students during a weekly club at lunch.  We have 3 judges who will be joining us - M. Schlacht, M. Samaratunga and M. Layton.  M. Schlacht is the principal of Wye School and M. Samaratunga is the Assistant Principal of Wye School.  We thought that it would be great for students who will be going to the Wye Replacement School in 2020/2021 to start to get to know them.  M. Layton is a former CBN teacher who is now the assistant director of Information Technologies. . We look forward to seeing the hard work the students have done over the past few months!  Thank you to Mme Aasen and Mme Kulhavy for leading the students as they prepare their speeches.
