April 28-May 4

Some of you may know that 6 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Unfortunately, I found out last week that treatment I was on had stopped working and I have started a new chemotherapy.  Because of this, I need to take a bit of time off to focus on this new treatment and to ensure that I stay healthy. While I am away, Mme Garneau will be the acting principal and Mme Boswell will be acting assistant principal.  There will also be some support for counselling as well. We have an incredible team at Ecole Campbelltown and I know you are in fantastic hands!

Thank you in advance for your well wishes!

Mme Sauder

We want to take a moment to share our deepest gratitude for the leadership and guidance that Mme Sauder has provided to our Campbelltown family. Although she will be greatly missed, we are comforted by the knowledge that she is taking the time to take care of herself. Until she returns, we will pull together as a community to ensure that her vision for a safe, caring and inclusive school in which every child has success comes to light.

Mme Boswell and our new counsellor , Mme Sundar, will be visiting classrooms on Tuesday to update students.  We encourage parents to have conversations at home with their child as well as they feel necessary.

We will be collecting any cards or messages that community members would like to share with Mme Sauder. Feel free to drop by the office if you or your child have anything you would like passed along.

Working with you,
Mme Garneau & Mme Boswell

Learning in the Classroom

Mme Archambault’s Grade 2 class has been hard at work creating an art display while learning about Meteghan, an acadian fishing community.

Counsellor’s Corner

Hats on for Mental health will kick off our Mental Health Awareness Week. On May 1st, students will be invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. I encourage parents to watch A Healthy Brain video with your child for ideas on how you and your child can promote positive mental health.

May 6-10th is Mental Health Awareness Week. Students will be participating in class discussions as to the differences between mental health and mental illness and strategies to promote positive mental health.

Upcoming events

What is it?

During this two week summer day camp, your child will explore dance, theatre, music and visual arts. By the end of the camp, the participants will have created a performance of their own that will presented to family and friends, as well as at the Kids’ Fringe. And everything takes place in French! This year’s theme is BizArt!

Who is it for?

For French-speaking students enrolled in grades 1 to 7. We accept students in francophone school programs as well as in French immersion programs; if your child can communicate in French, they will have a blast!
