Bienvenue à l’École Campbelltown!
As you are all aware, I am new to the Campbelltown family. I use the term “family”, for the moment I walked in the door staff, students and parents were very warm and welcoming.
I was born and raised in Edmonton and was also blessed to be a part of the rural community as our family had a farm outside the city that we spent time at. I have a wonderful and supportive wife of thirty years and four amazing children and one grandchild. I enjoy the outdoors and have also had my fingers in various family ventures.
I started my teaching career in Grande Prairie, where I taught everything from gr. 1-9. After six years, my wife and our children came back to the Edmonton area and I started teaching with Elk Island Public Schools. I have been with EIPS for twenty-two years. In EIPS, I have taught everything from 5-10 and have been an administrator for seventeen of these years. In my most recent eight years, I have been the Principal at A.L. Horton Elementary in Vegreville. It was a dual track English / Ukrainian Bilingual school.
I strongly believe that education goes beyond the four walls of a school. Parents are the first essential learning environment. Therefore, positive and ongoing communication between home and school is essential. “Going beyond these walls,” also includes, going outside of our building for field trips and trying school activities that often challenge us both physically and mentally. I do not simply believe this, as an arbitrary philosophical statement. I try to live it and model it. Therefore, I am now submersing myself in French. Positive modeling to our children is one of the most impactful things we can do.
When we work together, many things are possible, and we can have a great time doing it!
I feel grateful to be a part of your family of learners.
