At the end of each week, I will email home a "Weekly Update" for parents/guardians to see what is coming up.

School News

May 26 - June 1st

École Campbelltown has been extremely fortunate to have formed a relationship with Elder Wilson over the past several years.  He is a valued addition to our school community and we always enjoy seeing students’ and staff’s joy as they see him walking in our hallways.

This year, Elder Wilson has helped our staff, students and community in our Truth and Reconciliation process through participating in our Orange Shirt Day Assembly, through leading sharing circles and sharing his knowledge with classes and through making talking sticks with various classes.

This week, the Grade 5 students will be participating in the Blanket Exercise with Elder Wilson. The Blanket Exercise is an interactive timeline of events from pre-contact to present day. Students take the role of Indigenous peoples throughout the exercise so that they can develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between the Crown and Indigenous peoples in Canada, from the settlers’ arrival to modern times. Our favorite part of this activity is listening to the students’ profounds reflections during the sharing circle that Elder Wilson leads after the exercise.

As the school year winds down, we would like to extend our gratitude towards Elder Wilson for all the support that he has provided our school this year.

Working with you,
Mme Garneau & Mme Boswell
